Name of the book: Caraval
Author: Stephanie Garber
My Rating: 5/5
Caraval is book number one in the Caraval trilogy and is a magical book that will take you on a whirlwind of adventures. For those of you who loved Harry Potter for it's magical and mystical world, this book is a treat because nothing falls short of a little sparkle and illusions.
The book follows the life of two sisters: Scarlett and Donatella Dragna. Their love is beyond measure and they fight over protecting each other from their sadist father. Governor Dragna is someone you will definitely hate and despise from the very second you meet him. He derives pleasure out of hurting his daughters.
So what do they do when they receive an invitation to Caraval, a game hosted by Legend who grants a wish to the winner? Do they try and escape from the clutches of their father or do they refuse the invitation?
The adventures are mystical and the characters are well-written. This has been by far my best read this year and I can't wait to start Legendary.
Things I liked:
Complicated characters, each one has a layer and is flawed like normal people
Plot twists and the flow of events
Julian (had to fall in love with him)
The creation of such a magical place
Things I didn't like:
Nothing!
Would I recommend? Yes, of course! Put everything down and grab this book!
