Name of the book: I’m So Hacked
Author: Gautam Mayekar
My Rating: 3.8/5
I’m So Hacked by Gautam Mayekar is a completely unique thriller story about a hacker who calls himself @v!. The book follows the adventures of @v! and few more companions like M@dR1, $@m and K!LL3R. The book starts by describing an interview that the protagonist sits for and how he lands his job at one of the top anti-virus companies. The book left me a little confused in the beginning as I felt that the narration was not smooth and there were too many thoughts one after the other that ruined the flow of things. The sentences were too short but all of this makes sense at the end. The reason the sentences are the way they are signifies something towards the end which is why you shouldn’t give up on the book at an early stage. The rest of the book is full of plot-twists and loads of suspense which is a great combination for anyone who loves thrillers. The main character is unique and unlike any that I have read. He isn’t your usual lover boy but instead a complicated person with layers to him. Layers that are so deep that he winds himself in trouble - or so you think.
Things I liked:
I was drawn towards the cover of the book
How everything makes sense towards the end
Portrayal of the characters
Plot twists and the open ending
Things I didn’t like:
The plot seemed a little boring at instances - especially when the author describes the protagonist’s office life
Would I recommend this?
I’d recommend this book to hackers who will definitely resonate with the clear habits of any hacker. Also readers who are fans of thriller books will definitely enjoy this read!
