Name of the book: The Perfect Drug

Author: Chaitanya Saini

Publication: Pakshi Publications

My Rating: 4/5

This book is about a chemistry student, Ananya, who gets admitted to the prestigious "St Stephen's" of Delhi University. It follows his life from the first interview at Stephen's and his journey through his college life as well as life after that.

The Perfect Drug is a book that involves everything that is necessary for a good book: great characterization, amazing descriptions of what is going on in the protagonist's mind and his surroundings, and a proper plot line. Ananya goes through a major heartbreak which leads him in the direction of brewing the perfect drug. We see his perseverance that helps him brew a concoction successfully that will allow him to analyze individual chakras of people around him.

Ananya is mostly a likable character except for the few times when he ends up sounding like a jerk. He is someone who truly cares about his surroundings and not just his success.

Things that worked out for me:

The entire plot of the book

Simple yet attractive language used

Level of research conducted by the author in writing something so technical

Narration

The Epilogue

Things that didn't work out for me:

Ananya's cockiness at certain instances

The book was too long, few parts could have been shortened or avoided

Do I recommend this book?

Yes! It's a great read and one of my favorites by an Indian author.
